While it's far from the best game in the franchise, it's still enjoyable with engaging combat, a memorable soundtrack and a decent plot. A game for fans of the series but not the best place to start if you're not familiar with the series.. This game is so good. Story is good. No bullcrap, no politics, no sjw crap. Just pure adventure. Nice level design too. Regardless of its dated graphics, the story stuck to its roots. It did not disappoint at all. Good job! Can't wait for Monstrum Nox. They should release it for steam simultaneously.. remake of Ys IV : Dawn of Ys and Ys IV : Mask of the Sun (both share the same story), and it's localized and ported by Xseednothing could go wrong. Good Game but also annoying!I'm getting too old for the RPG genre, since I'm more interested in the combat than story at this age, so I'm going to judge it pretty hard from my experience.1. I see how the YS series is progressing and I like how they improved on some mechanics from the previous versions but I'm also seeing some issue that calls for concern like the rock, paper, scissor action between the characters. I for one don't like the idea of having teamates to control or assist you on the adventure, too many things going on at once which distracts and forces me to spam without even taking notice anymore. I'm not sure if this make sense but the combat feels more quanity than quality. 2. I felt the dialogue should of been toned down bit and some of the cut scene's should of been removed after one sequence. How many times do you need to see a short sequence of activating a pillar or stepping on a floor switch? 3. Some of the quest felt dull and the Item crafting or synthesizing was a waste of time.I mostly hold "YS:Orgin" as one of the most regarded title in the series, but this game has its moments of fun especially when you get to play the boss trials in New GAME+.. My fourth YS series game ( I & II --> origin --> this )(+)- Memorable soundtrack- Simple gameplay, though I need to get used the basic longer than Origin- Unique boss battle, but the difficulty diluted by the mechanic - Anywhere save, and A DUNGEON MAP (!!!!,♥♥♥♥♥you darm tower, mine dungeon, solomon shrine )- QoL Teleport(-)- Too easy. No cooldown and casting time item meaning you can breeze through all of the boss, even the supposed hardest ( secret ) one as long your level is not too far behind and well prepared your stock. You can brute force ALL of the boss. All battle turned into buttonmashing pretty fast - Equipment enchanment like freeze completely destroy all the mobs that is not immune to it, regen/life steal made the first point even ( much ) easier.- Some scene is pretty stupid and/or redundant ( especially the villain ), somewhat cringy dialog(~)- Straightforward story plotOverall i somewhat dissapointed because the battle challenge in celceta turned out to be the joke compared to my other 2 previous game. Maybe this kind of YS battle system is not my cup of tea. Still reccomended ( barely ) though. Need more character interaction between the main party. Onward to oath of felghana.. Beautiful game with more gameplay options than you can shake a stick at. A bit grindy (I chose not to level up all of my skills), but the overall experience was great & I appreciated the story, characters, and the world offered. Ys II also offered nice towns, but this world was far more rich. Good game.. Outstanding!!! I don't understand why so many people slate MoC, I had an absolute blast with the game and, indeed, enjoyed it so much that I rank it up next to Ys VIII/Lacrimosa of Dana, which I consider to be my favourite :) Super fast combat, tons of unlockable items/skills, fantastic music, and some genuinely enjoyable characters and dungeons ^_^
